You Me at Six at Alexandra Palace

You Me at Six at Alexandra Palace | Live review

With a dazzling view of London as a backdrop, the weekend got off to an exciting start as You Me At Six rocked out to a packed crowd at the ever-beautiful Alexandra Palace on Saturday evening. The gig marked the end of the UK leg of the band’s Truth Decay tour, titled after their latest release with the same name, making the band’s only London date a unique and energetic one.

The renowned English rock band took to the stage and started off with the first track from their latest album, Deep Cuts, which set the tone for the rest of the night. You Me At Six brought out the former emo kid in every member of the crowd by proving that their distinct version of alternative rock is just as influential in 2023 as it was at its peak, nearly a decade ago, when they released their albums Hold Me Down (2010) and Sinners Never Sleep (2011), that arguably defined that era of emo and alternative rock.

The band played on for a sea of moshing fans under a striking display of lights that changed with each new song. Halfway through the night, frontman Josh Franceschi brought out Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari for their song No Future? Yeah Right, an exciting surprise for the fans.

The group transported listeners back in time by playing some of their most memorable songs from the 2010s such as Underdog, Bite My Tongue, Liquid Confidence and Reckless. They also performed a beautiful acoustic rendition of No One Does It Better, a song that certainly means a lot to both fans and the band themselves, allowing for an almost personal moment between them within the walls of Alexandra Palace.

As the lights and the music came to a stop, the evening of high-octane mosh pits and headbanging came to an end, but the effervescent energy of the evening lingered on and surely stayed with the audience, a reminder of the amazing performance by You Me At Six at a stunning venue.
