John Wick 4: On the red carpet with Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Chad Stahelski and Scott Adkins

John Wick 4: On the red carpet with Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Chad Stahelski and Scott Adkins

If there was any doubt Keanu Reeves was the foremost action actor of our generation – from Point Break to Speed to The Matrix – the longevity of the John Wick franchise has further cemented that status. He returns as the famed hitman for a fourth outing, and viewers can expect more international locations (New York, Paris, Japan, Berlin) new villains and actors, including Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård and ‎Rina Sawayama, and even more impressively choreographed fight sequences as John Wick 4 hits cinemas.

The Upcoming had a blast joining the cast and director on the red carpet for the full-throttle London premiere, in spite of heavy downpours. Reeves told us why he loves the action genre so much, the joy of returning to the character of John Wick and what fans can expect from the fourth instalment of the franchise.

McShane sang the praises of his co-star Reeves and gave some insight into his character’s journey.

Director Stahelski told us how the new film takes inspiration from westerns and samurai films, as well as Greek mythology, and the fun he had bringing new characters and actors into the fold.

Martial arts expert and actor Scott Adkins spoke about joining the franchise as a new villain but being unrecognisable under prosthetics and a heavy German accent.

Natalia Tena also shared her reflections on her character of Katia and how welcomed she felt when first stepping onto set.

Rina Sawayama gave some insight into her experiences working on the movie and performing stunts.
