Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom prepares to make waves with digital and physical release

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to the record-breaking DC film, is set to make a splash in homes as it arrives for premium digital ownership and rental on the 5th February 2024. Fans of the aquatic superhero can also look forward to the physical release of the film, which will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD from the 18th March. Directed by James Wan and featuring a star-studded cast including Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard and Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman, the action-packed adventure continues the saga of Arthur Curry’s dual life as the King of Atlantis and a new father.

For those eager to dive into the adventure early, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be accessible for a 48-hour rental period via PVOD on various digital platforms, such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play and Vudu. Once the film hits the shelves for physical purchase in March, it will also remain available in high definition and standard definition from digital retailers.

In this anticipated follow-up, Jason Momoa reprises his role as Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman, who must now navigate his royal responsibilities alongside fatherhood. The film sees the return of many familiar characters, including Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and one-time adversary, Amber Heard as Queen Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the vengeful Black Manta and Nicole Kidman as the warrior-hearted Atlanna. The ensemble cast also includes Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr Stephen Shin.

The narrative revolves around Black Manta’s relentless pursuit of revenge against Aquaman for his father’s death. With the formidable power of the Black Trident in his grasp, Black Manta unleashes an ancient force, compelling Aquaman to seek an alliance with his brother Orm to thwart Black Manta’s destructive plans.

The screenplay, penned by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, is based on a story co-written by James Wan, Johnson-McGoldrick, Jason Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, drawing from the DC characters created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger. The film is produced by Peter Safran, James Wan, and Rob Cowan, with Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada serving as executive producers.

Fans and newcomers to the franchise alike can look forward to a cinematic experience that combines deep-sea intrigue with the personal trials of its hero, set against an epic backdrop of fantasy and action. With its digital and physical releases, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is poised to make a tidal wave in the superhero genre once again.
