Crowded House to perform new album Gravity Stairs at exclusive London show

Iconic rock band Crowded House has announced an exclusive album launch show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on 13th June 2024. This special event will feature the band performing their eighth studio album, Gravity Stairs, live in its entirety for the first time, ahead of the global release on 31st May via BMG. Tickets for the highly anticipated show will go on general sale on 23rd February at 9am through LiveNation.co.uk.

The announcement of the exclusive show follows the release of Oh Hi, the surprise new single from the forthcoming record, which has already been praised for its “buoyant, lush and sunny” qualities, laden with Neil Finn’s classic melodies and harmonies. The song has a special meaning for Finn, as it draws inspiration from his experience with So They Can, a non-profit organisation dedicated to building schools in Kenya and Tanzania.

Produced by the band along with Steven Schram, Gravity Stairs is Crowded House’s first new release since 2021’s Dreamers Are Waiting. The current lineup features Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom and Finn’s sons Elroy and Liam, who together have crafted a record that showcases the band’s musical adaptability while still achieving the high standards that have made them a global sensation. The album’s title, Gravity Stairs, serves as a metaphor for the challenges of ageing and creativity as articulated by Finn.

The tracklist of Gravity Stairs includes 11 new songs that represent the band’s continued evolution and their commitment to producing music that captivates both long-time and new fans.

Crowded House has made a significant impact on the music industry since their formation in Melbourne, Australia, in 1985. With over 15 million records sold worldwide, numerous awards, and billions of streams, the band has enjoyed a celebrated career with four number-one albums in Australia. Following their legendary 1996 Sydney Opera House performance, the band went on hiatus, only to return in 2007 with new music and eventually inducting into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2016. The band’s latest resurgence came with the release of Dreamers Are Waiting in 2021, which garnered critical acclaim and an ARIA Award for “Best Adult Contemporary Album”.
