Rock icon Billy Idol is set to mark the 40th anniversary of his seminal album Rebel Yell with a deluxe expanded edition launching on 26th April, announced via Capitol/UMe. This special release not only celebrates four decades since the album’s debut but also enriches fans’ experience with a suite of previously unheard songs, demos from the era and a fresh Poolside remix of the hit Eyes Without a Face. Idol enthusiasts can look forward to the exclusive track Love Don’t Live Here Anymore, a cover from the original recording sessions, available for streaming since Friday, coinciding with the album’s pre-order launch.

Originally hitting the shelves in November 1983, Rebel Yell achieved twice-platinum status, following Idol’s self-titled debut. This album brought to the fore hits like Eyes Without a FaceFlesh for FantasyRebel Yell and Catch My Fall, securing Idol’s position in rock music’s pantheon. The reissue will be available in various formats, including 2xLP, 2xCD and digital formats, featuring a rich selection of additional material.

In a parallel celebration of his enduring career, Idol recently released Billy Idol: State Line, a concert film documenting his historic performance at Hoover Dam in April 2023 – the first concert ever held at this iconic location. The film, available on DVD and Blu-ray following a successful limited cinema run, offers fans a glimpse into the significant history of the Hoover Dam and features Idol performing his classic hits. The performance includes collaborations with long-time collaborator and guitarist Steve Stevens and special guests Alison Mosshart, Steve Jones and Tony Kanal, highlighting Idol’s influential role in rock music across generations.

With a career spanning over 46 years, Billy Idol remains a definitive figure in rock ‘n’ roll, seamlessly bridging the punk ethos with rock ‘n’ roll’s decadent aesthetic. Idol’s continuous world touring over the past decade and recent accolades, including his induction into Hollywood’s Walk of Fame as the first star of 2023, attest to his lasting appeal and influence in the music industry.
