Dartmouth Films announces release of I Could Never Go Vegan documentary exploring objections to veganism

Dartmouth Films has set 19th April 2024 as the release date for the insightful and provocative documentary I Could Never Go Vegan across the UK and Ireland. Directed by Thomas Pickering and featuring executive producers, including the well-known actress and vegan advocate Alicia Silverstone, the film embarks on a comprehensive journey to dissect the numerous objections that people have towards adopting a vegan lifestyle. Despite the rising trend of veganism, the documentary delves into the reasons why the majority are hesitant to reduce their consumption of animal products.

The film brings together a diverse cast of contributors, from powerlifting champion Sophia Ellis and environmental activist George Monbiot to health professionals like Dr Shireen Kassam, Dr Gemma Newman and Gastroenterologist Alan Desmond. It also features voices from The Happy Pear food professionals, opinion leaders and even those working within slaughterhouses. Together, they tackle the prevailing arguments against veganism, seeking to debunk myths and address misconceptions along the way.

I Could Never Go Vegan aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the impacts of animal agriculture on health, animal welfare and the environment, presenting an educational yet non-confrontational narrative. This methodical approach to the subject matter is intended to enlighten viewers about the realities they may not have considered or been exposed to previously.

Director Thomas Pickering shared his motivation for the documentary, stating, “I Could Never Go Vegan is truly a film for anyone who has ever heard or said these words. It’s not uncommon for me to have daily conversations with friends, colleagues or strangers, and for them to utter these words to me. But why? That’s exactly what I wanted to explore in this film, seeking to find out whether the arguments that face the vegan movement are justified or not.”

Echoing Pickering’s sentiments, Executive Producer Alicia Silverstone remarked, “I Could Never Go Vegan is the vegan documentary we’ve all been waiting for,” highlighting the anticipation for a film that addresses the common reservations and stereotypes surrounding veganism.

The premiere of the documentary is scheduled for 10th April in London, hosted by actor and animal rights activist Peter Egan, known for his role in Downton Abbey

I Could Never Go Vegan not only seeks to challenge and inform but also to inspire a dialogue about dietary choices and their broader implications. As veganism continues to gain momentum, this documentary is poised to contribute significantly to the conversation, encouraging viewers to question and, perhaps, reconsider their stance on veganism.
