New vampire film Abigail set to thrill UK audiences this April

The eagerly anticipated vampire flick Abigail is poised to hit UK cinemas on 19th April, promising a fresh and blood-curdling twist on the genre. Directed by the acclaimed duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their work on modern horror hits including Ready or Not and the 2022 and last year’s iterations of Scream, this film introduces a terrifying narrative where a simple kidnapping unravels into a night of horror.

The plot centres around a group of would-be criminals who kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a formidable underworld figure, hoping to secure a $50 million ransom. Their task seems straightforward: watch the girl overnight in an isolated mansion. However, the captors find themselves disappearing one by one, coming to the horrifying realisation that they are trapped with no ordinary little girl.

Abigail boasts a script penned by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the GroundZombie Bashers) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Ready or Not), set to deliver a gripping and innovative take on vampire lore.

The film features a stellar cast including Melissa Barrera (Scream franchise, In the Heights), Dan Stevens (GaslitLegion), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaFreaky), William Catlett (Black LightningTrue Story), Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: RetributionX-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Angus Cloud (EuphoriaNorth Hollywood) as the kidnappers. Alisha Weir (Roald Dahl’s Matilda the MusicalDarklands) stars as Abigail, the seemingly innocent yet deadly protagonist.

With its intriguing premise and talented ensemble, Abigail is set to captivate and terrify viewers, marking a bold new entry in the vampire film genre. Catch a glimpse of the chilling adventure that awaits at the trailer below.
