London’s Camden Market, London’s vibrant hub known for its eclectic mix of food, fashion, and culture, is set to welcome a new addition on the 24th July: Dhakaah, a casual dining restaurant specializing in Bangladeshi cuisine, opening its doors at Hawley Wharf. The menu celebrates the street food and specialities of Bangladesh, with the aim to showcase the rich flavours and culinary traditions of the country.

Named after Bangladesh’s bustling capital, Dhaka, the restaurant’s dishes offer a variety of tasty delights. Patrons can start their meal with bar snacks such as Fuchka, Bangladesh’s answer to Pani Puri filled with spiced potato, chickpea and spiced tamarind water; crisp dhal fritters Peyaju, and Shingara, shortcrust pastry filled with soft potato and spiced vegetables. As they move to larger plates, the list selection comprises Beef Kathi Roll, a heavily spiced mezbani beef curry, wrapped in handmade parota, and the Chicken Roast. The menu also includes an assortment of Kulfi to round out the experience. On the beverage front, the restaurant focuses on incorporating Bangladeshi produce, proposing drinks like a house gin and tonic flavored with Bangladeshi lemon and the Dhakaah Dirty Martini, based on Jolpai, a giant olive-like fruit found across the Indian sub-continent. The soft drinks section features as well Borhani, the refreshing yoghurt-based drink made with natural yoghurt, green chilli, black salt, coriander, and mint.

Dhakaah is committed to using free-range British produce and sourcing specific elements directly from Bangladesh, such as Kalijeera rice, ensuring the highest quality across the menu. The restaurant is part of a larger vision to bring Bangladeshi culture and cuisine to the UK mainstream, highlighting the individuality and diversity of this often overlooked culture.

Camden Market, London’s largest market, has been a symbol of the city’s creative and rebellious spirit since 1974. With over 1000 traders, the market is a melting pot of music, fashion, retail, and innovative restaurant concepts. Dhakaah’s launching in Hawley Wharf, a canal-side destination within Camden Market, marks a significant new opening.

In the lead up to its openign, Dhakaah has organised a series of tasting events around Camdern Market.
