“You cannot predict what’s going to happen”: Paul Forman and Nico Mirrallegro on Stags

Written by David Cullen and directed by David Kerr, Stags is a six-part series that follows the epic trail of destruction when groom-to-be Stu (Nico Mirrallegro) heads off on his stag do to the sunny climbs of Mexico, armed with a bunch of his mates. A week of debauched fun ends in disaster as the group end up in prison, isolated on a remote coastal island reminiscent of Alcatraz.

The show is full of twists and turns as the group navigate their ongoing friendship dynamics. The blame for their dilemma continuously shifts throughout the episodes as the men spend more time together and decide who they can trust. A script full of hilarious mishaps pairs well with moments of bloodshed and violence plus some more emotional layers, as the lads seek to protect their chances of survival by picking sides against two warring siblings who own the isolated prison.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Paul Forman and Nico Mirrallegro about their roles in the series, working with such a brilliant and fellow cast and the way in which the script allowed room to get creative with their characters.

Stags is released on Paramount+ on 15th August 2024.
