Viajante87 to host Mexican event with Casa Oaxaca and Hanky Panky

On Monday 16th September, Notting Hill’s Viajante87 bar will host a culinary event featuring Mexican cuisine and cocktails in collaboration with Casa Oaxaca and Hanky Panky, two award-winning hospitality brands from Mexico City. The one-night-only supper club, part of the ongoing Culture Exchange series, aims to showcase Latin America’s rich food and drink traditions. The initiative, sponsored by Lost Explorer Mezcal, will take place at Viajante87, located in the basement of 87 Notting Hill Gate.

Casa Oaxaca, under the leadership of chef Alejandro Ruiz, is renowned for its innovative approach to traditional Oaxacan dishes. The restaurant, a fixture on The World’s 50 Best Discovery list, will offer London diners a taste of its acclaimed menu, including specialities like Yellowfin Tuna Carpaccio with Dry Beef Slivers, and Charcoal-Grilled Octopus with Chilli Molasses.

Complementing the food, the evening will feature bespoke cocktails from Hanky Panky, a speakeasy-style bar currently ranked No. 22 in The World’s 50 Best Bars. Owned by Walter Meyenberg, the establishment presents transportive concoctions and excellent service from the team led by Ismael Martinez and Gina Barbachano. The bar takeover will include a selection of drinks utilising Lost Explorer Mezcal and designed to pair with the dishes served, highlighting the flavours of Mexico and Latin America.

After the reopening in 2023 with Bar Director Pietro Collina and Brand Manager Veronica Di Pietrantonio, Viajante87 has recently launched its full new menu inspired by the duo’s travels through Latin America. After six months of travelling through the region, the Culture Exchange series is their way of honouring the Latin American culture and saying thank you for the incredible hospitality shown to them by each of these bars and restaurants. The series has so far seen restaurant Metzi with SubAstor, chef Diengo Chou with Selvática Social Club, restaurant Gustu with Florería Atlántico, and restaurant Celele with Alquimico.
