JOIA Bar at art’otel Battersea launches new gem-inspired cocktail menu

JOIA Bar, located on the 14th floor of Art’otel Battersea, has recently unveiled their new autumn cocktail menu, meticulously crafted by Bar Manager Panos Ntalianis. The bar, which offers sweeping views of the iconic Battersea Power Station, has introduced a selection of ten signature cocktails inspired by the term JOIA, meaning jewel in Portuguese. Each cocktail is named after various gems from the region, reflecting their colour and delicate qualities.

Among the standout offerings is the Zircao, a spicy margarita variant that blends smoky mezcal with mango and smoked paprika. Another notable concoction is the Jasper, which combines rye whiskey, fig leaf honey, and mandarin leaves. For those with a preference for classic cocktails with a twist, the Morganite presents a particular take on the Paloma, featuring mezcal, agave, lime, tajin, and grapefruit soda.

The cocktails are designed with food pairings in mind, complemented by a bar snack menu curated by Chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, some of which may also be found on the restaurant’s menu. The selection includes dishes such as Iberico croquetas, Pan con tomate with Iberico ham, and a salt cod tortilla. Soft sourdough bread slices are served accompanied by Ampersand butter and extra virgin olive oil, while a generous portion of Octopus Salad is prepared with red pepper and potato.

Dessert cocktails also feature prominently, with the Moonstone drawing inspiration from the Portuguese treat pastel de nata. This cocktail is crafted with rum, tentura, puff pastry, and vanilla custard, and is recommended alongside JOIA’s Torrija, a dessert of caramelised brioche with almonds, raspberries, and Madeira ice cream. Another dessert-themed drink, the Diamantina, is a minimalist cocktail made with Havana 3 rum, toasted coconut, coconut oil liqueur, coconut water, and saltwater.

This innovative cocktail list and accompanying snack menu aim to provide guests with a tasty blending of the rich flavours of Iberia with the creative flair of the bartenders and chefs at JOIA Bar. With the panoramic background of the Powerstation, the venue is a destination for both locals and visitors of the Battersea area.
