On 28th February 2025, rock enthusiasts and vinyl collectors will have the opportunity to revisit one of the most iconic albums of the 1980s as Bon Jovi releases a special edition of their third studio album, Slippery When Wet. This reissue will be available in various formats including vinyl, Digital Deluxe and cassette, with pre-orders already underway.

Slippery When Wet will not only be reissued as a standard album but will also feature a limited edition liquid-filled vinyl disc, with only 1300 copies available worldwide, and a picture disc limited to 1500 copies. For those preferring vintage formats, the album will also be accessible on cassette, limited to 500 copies. Additionally, fans can anticipate a Deluxe Edition that includes seven bonus tracks, available on 2CD and across all digital streaming platforms.

The Deluxe Edition is particularly notable for its inclusion of a long-awaited acoustic version of Wanted Dead or Alive and four live recordings from the band’s historic 1987 tour. Among these, two recordings are previously unheard renditions of Let It Rock. The edition also offers new mixes of fan favourites such as Livin’ On A Prayer (Thank You Goodnight Remix) and Raise Your Hands (Extended Obie O’Brien Mix), adding a fresh dimension to these classic tracks.

Upon its original release on 18th August 1986, Slippery When Wet made a significant impact, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and maintaining the top position for eight consecutive weeks. It was heralded as the top-selling album of 1987 and has been certified 12x-platinum, marking it as the band’s most successful album to date. With hits like You Give Love A Bad NameLivin’ On A Prayer and Wanted Dead Or Alive, the album has accumulated over 9.4 billion streams.

This album’s influence extends beyond its commercial success; it has been recognised in the annals of rock history with features in Guitar World’s Top 20 Hair Metal Albums of the Eighties and Rolling Stone’s 50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time.

The release is set against a backdrop of continued achievement for Bon Jovi, following last year’s release of their Greatest Hits compilation on 2LP vinyl and the RIAA Diamond certification for their single Livin’ on a Prayer. The band’s sales accolades include over 72 million RIAA-certified units across their career, with albums like Crossroads and singles such as It’s My Life achieving multi-platinum statuses.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Bon Jovi’s debut album, celebrated with a special edition release across digital platforms and limited-edition physical formats. As 2025 unfolds, this reissue not only commemorates past glories but also highlights the band’s ongoing musical legacy.
