Cantonese roast meat restaurant Three Uncles is opening its sixth location at Brent Cross Shopping Centre in North London on the 14th of April. The new establishment will be part of the Centre’s newly developed District food hall, which features a selection of vendors around a central dining area.

This expansion reflects the restaurant’s growing influence in London’s culinary scene, drawing inspiration from traditional East Asian food courts and hawker centres. The Brent Cross venue, located at Unit 4, District Foodhall, will occupy a 635 sq ft space, showcasing a bold design with industrial stainless steel finishes and white tiled counters. Authentic pendant lights sourced from Hong Kong and a large glass bay window will allow diners to observe the chefs as they prepare meals, enhancing the interactive dining experience.

The menu will feature Three Uncles’ signature Sui Mei (Cantonese roast meat) dishes, including Roast Duck, Crispy Pork Belly (Siu Yuk), and BBQ Pork (Char Siu). This latter starts with a base of British pork collar, to which a combination of twelve herbs and spices are used as a marinade before adding a secret recipe marinade. Then follows a laborious 6-step technique (marinate on the inside, rub on the outside, fan dry, roast, rest, and serve) that includes 48-hour marinating to impart flavour and roasting in an oven imported from Hong Kong.

The food selection includes additional courses like Hainan Chicken with Rice and Lo Mien Noodles with various toppings. Smaller dishes such as dim sum and specialities like Uncle Lim’s Curry Fishballs, Lamb Dumplings in Chilli Vinegar and Shek Wu Hui Chee Cheong Fun will also be available. All packaging will be plastic-free.

Three Uncles was founded by childhood friends and chefs Chong Yew (Uncle Lim), Pui Sing Tsang (Uncle Sidney), and Mo Kwok (Uncle Mo). The trio has been inspired by their experiences growing up in Hong Kong during the 1970s, where they frequently visited renowned roast meat cafes. “Siu Mei brings back treasured memories for us,” said Mo Kwok. The brand has been recognized for its meticulous preparation techniques. Talking about the upcoming launch, Chong Yew commented “Three Uncles is going from strength to strength, and we’re excited to expand into more areas of London.”

This latest northwest London location joins Three Uncles’ group of independently owned takeaway kiosks and restaurants in the North (Hallway Wharf Market), South (Brixton Village), East (Liverpool Street), West (Ealing), and Central (St Paul’s).
