8 at The Londoner unveils Japanese-inspired cocktail menu celebrating eight flavours

8 at The Londoner, the rooftop bar and terrace atop The Londoner hotel in Leicester Square, has recently introduced the new cocktail menu titled 8 Tastes of Japan. The list features eight cocktails, each inspired by a distinct element of Japanese cuisine.

Developed by Amir Jati and Shailesh Deshmukh of the Edwardian Hotel Group, the team behind several acclaimed hospitality venues, the new menu draws on eight key flavour profiles from Japanese culinary tradition. Pierpaolo Schirru, Head Mixologist for the group, curated the cocktail selection, where each concoction finds a perfect match in the dishes from 8 at The Londoner’s existing bar menu.

The 8 Tastes of Japan tipples are themed around Edamame, Tempura, Robata, Dashi, A5 Wagyu, Maki Roll, Mochi, and Chawanmushi. Among the creations available to order, there is the Palom-pura, a reimagined Paloma inspired by tempura, made with ama ponzu cordial, Cachaça, shiso shōchū, sudachi, and grapefruit soda. It is suggested as a pairing with Crispy Tiger Prawn Clouds served with truffled yuzu mayonnaise.

Another delicious choice would be The Wagyu, which incorporates Nikka From The Barrel whisky, A5 Wagyu, a house vermouth blend, and amari mix. This drink is intended to complement a Wagyu hot dog with gorgonzola hash brown and habanero. The Storm Mochi cocktail features adzuki bean and red wine distillate, Cocchi Americano, and rice wine, and is recommended alongside the chef’s mochi selection.

The bar continues to offer classics from their usual drinks list, such as the Jasmine & Yuzu Margarita and a barrel-aged Old Fashioned featuring Japanese and American whiskies. The accompanying food menu includes dishes that highlight Japanese ingredients and techniques, like Karaage Fried Chicken with spiced aioli, Edamame Candy with lemon butter and chilli salt, and Maki Rolls with crispy tiger prawn and spiced mayonnaise.

8 at The Londoner is located at 38 Leicester Square and forms part of The Londoner hotel, operated by Edwardian Hotels London. The hotel group, founded by Jasminder Singh OBE, recently streamlined its portfolio to focus on boutique and luxury experiences. The Londoner itself has received several industry accolades.
