The Connaught Grill unveils fresh summer menu

The Connaught Grill, the historic dining room located within the Connaught Hotel in Mayfair, London, will launch a new summer menu this week. Led by executive chef Ramiro Lafuente Martinez, the menu highlights the best of British seasonal produce, with a particular focus on seafood to reflect the lighter and more vibrant flavours associated with the warmer months.

Central to the new offering is the Connaught Grill’s Seafood Cocktail, which features a selection of native shellfish including Atlantic prawns, Scottish lobster and Norwegian king crab. The dish is presented on a copper platter over crushed ice and is accompanied by a glass of Billecart-Salmon Le Réserve NV champagne. In keeping with the restaurant’s tradition of tableside service, the Marie Rose sauce is prepared fresh at the table and served directly onto the plate.

Other new menu items include starters such as Yellowfin Tuna Tartare with mustard sauce, herbs and fennel, and a Castelfranco and Frisée Salad with strawberry, Beauvale cheese and basil. Also featuring are dishes like Isle of Wight Tomatoes with summer vegetables and mignonette dressing, and lightly charred Galician Octopus with Calabrian chilli vinaigrette, sungold tomatoes and fennel. For sides, among others, there’s a Summer Courgette Tian, which is made from thinly sliced courgettes spiralled and served with sungold tomato, thyme and mint.

The restaurant’s wine team will be available to recommend selections from the Connaught’s wine cellar, which includes bottles such as Egon Müller Scharzhofberger riesling and Domaine Vincent Girardin Meursault chardonnay. Cocktails from the Grill’s menu, including the Tommy Simmons (made with Billecart Brut Réserve NV, Everleaf Forest, Bourgogne verjus, Sauvignon Blanc juice, grapefruit and basil) will also be on offer.

Lafuente Martinez said: “This season’s new menu at The Connaught Grill aims not just to showcase the bountiful produce of British summertime, but to treat it with care and patience, allowing the peak flavours to shine for themselves. We believe that in the warmer months food should be simple but by no means boring, similarly with the Grill’s Seafood Cocktail, we have elevated a very nostalgic dish into a decadent sharing platter of premium seafood, with the addition of the signature tableside service of a modern interpretation of Marie Rose sauce to pay homage to the restaurant’s longstanding heritage.”
