Only Murders in the Building returns this September with new mysteries – and a star-studded guest list
Disney+ has announced that Only Murders in the Building, its Emmy-winning comedy caper, will return for a fifth season on 9th September, with a three-episode premiere followed by weekly instalments. Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as the now-iconic amateur sleuth trio, the new season promises another round of clever, twist-filled whodunnit storytelling – with even higher stakes.
This time, the death of their beloved doorman Lester sets off a new investigation, dragging Charles, Oliver and Mabel into New York’s darkest corners. What begins as a tribute to a trusted friend quickly unravels into a sprawling conspiracy involving powerful billionaires, the old-school mob and the ever-mysterious tenants of the Arconia. As secrets pile up, the trio must navigate a city in transition – where old power is threatened by new forces, and loyalty becomes a dangerous liability.
Season five welcomes back series regular Michael Cyril Creighton, and adds an impressive roster of guest stars including Meryl Streep, Nathan Lane, Christoph Waltz, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Bobby Cannavale, Téa Leoni, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, Jermaine Fowler, Richard Kind and Keegan-Michael Key – further cementing the show’s reputation as one of television’s most star-studded comedies.
Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, and produced by 20th Television for Disney, Only Murders in the Building continues to blend mystery, comedy and emotional depth in equal measure. With its fifth season, the show looks set to deepen the mythology of the Arconia while delivering more of the twisty, character-driven storytelling that’s made it a global favourite.
