Rosewood Hong Kong named world’s best hotel for 2025 at The World’s 50 Best Hotels awards

Rosewood Hong Kong has been named the world’s best hotel for 2025, topping the annual list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels. The announcement was made on 30th October at a ceremony held at Old Billingsgate in London, where hospitality professionals and travel industry figures gathered to celebrate outstanding hotel experiences worldwide. The list, now in its third year, features properties from 22 destinations across six continents and includes several special awards recognising excellence in design, sustainability and service.

This year’s top ranking is located on the Kowloon waterfront overlooking Victoria Harbour. Opened in 2019, the 65-storey luxury property was dreamed up by Taiwanese designer Tony Chi and offers 413 rooms, 11 dining venues, an infinity pool with harbour views and the Asaya wellness centre. The Rosewood climbed two places from its number three position in 2024 to claim the top spot, as well as the title of Best Hotel in Asia. Emma Sleight of The World’s 50 Best Hotels team said: “This exceptional hotel offers world-class service and sensational guest experiences in the heart of one of the world’s most bustling and dynamic destinations.”

The Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River secured second place, followed by last year’s winner, Capella Bangkok, in third. Asia dominated the list with 20 entries, including multiple properties in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok. Notably, Raffles Singapore claimed number five, Desa Potato Head in Bali 18, and Mandarin Oriental Qianmen in Beijing 14. Europe followed with 17 properties, led by Passalacqua in Lake Como in fourth place, which also won the Best Boutique Hotel Award for the second consecutive year. The UK contributed five entries, including Claridge’s (16th place) and The Connaught (29th place), while France and Italy each had four.

Special awards were also presented, including the Eco Hotel Award, which went to Desa Potato Head in Bali, whose sustainability efforts were lauded. The Nikka Best New Hotel Award was given to Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, and the inaugural Johnnie Walker Art of Design Award went to Singita – Kruger National Park (number 40) in South Africa. The Royal Mansour in Marrakech (number 13) received the WhistlePig Highest Climber Award, and Copacabana Palace (number 11) in Rio de Janeiro was named the Highest New Entry.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels is part of the 50 Best brand, which also publishes annual rankings for restaurants and bars. The awards aim to highlight excellence in global hospitality and serve as a reference point for discerning travellers.
