Michelle Visage, Jay McGuiness and Natalie Paris lead new musical Sea Witch, premiering at Theatre Royal Drury Lane

A bold new entry to the West End stage, Sea Witch will have its world premiere at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Sunday 1st March 2026, with two special performances at 3pm and 7.30pm. Based on Sarah Henning’s fantasy novel and adapted with permission from HarperCollins Publishers, the show promises to reimagine the mythos of The Little Mermaid with a modern, empowering twist.

The musical features a book by co-creator Michael David Glover, direction by Kristopher Russell, music and lyrics by Segun Fawole, and music production by Jeff Nang. It’s described by the creative team as “a powerful story of identity, sacrifice and self-discovery,” set in a world where magic is outlawed and a sea witch’s origin is brought to life like never before.

A new track from the show, They Won’t Forget Me Now, performed by Amy Di Bartolomeo (recently seen in The Devil Wears Prada), has just been released to preview the musical’s darkly cinematic pop-infused sound. According to the team, the score blends “cinematic pop, dark soul, and soaring musical-theatre songwriting to create a sound unlike anything currently on the West End.”

The high-profile cast includes Drag Race star and broadcaster Michelle Visage as Tante Hansa, Jay McGuiness (The Wanted, BIG!) as Iker, and Natalie Paris (original SIX) as Evie. They are joined by Mazz Murray (Mamma Mia!), Amy Di Bartolomeo, and Natalie Kassanga (Moulin Rouge!), rounding out an all-star ensemble.

“Joining the production of Sea Witch fills my heart in ways I can barely put into words,” said Visage. “To stand on a London stage, in a story this daring and unapologetic, is a dream I hold very close. This production is powerful, fearless, and brimming with talent – and I am deeply honoured to be part of something so magical.”

Paris echoed the excitement: “It’s really special to be able to create a role in a new musical, especially when it is as exciting and dynamic as Sea Witch. I cannot wait to bring this magical show to life alongside an epic cast and team of creatives.”

Co-creator and writer Michael Glover added: “Sea Witch challenges everything we thought we knew about heroes, villains, and storytelling. It’s daring, emotional, and unapologetic – designed to carve out a new path for modern musicals.”

Choreographer Dean Lee, whose credits include Janet Jackson, described the movement of the show as “a completely fresh movement language for theatre. My hope is that audiences don’t just watch the choreography – they feel it, live inside it, and experience theatre in a way that feels new, emotional and deeply human.”

Sea Witch is produced by Russell & Glover Theatrical, with casting by Peter Noden. Tickets are on sale now via lwtheatres.co.uk.
