Kung Fu Mama to open second London noodle bar in Canary Wharf with 50% launch offer

Kung Fu Mama, the Taiwanese noodle bar owned by Chris Hsu and Ottolenghi co-founder Noam Bar-Chang, will open its second London location in Canary Wharf’s Jubilee Place this week. The new venue aims to introduce Taiwanese street food to the financial district, following the brand’s initial launch in Covent Garden last April. To celebrate the opening, Kung Fu Mama will offer a 50% discount on its entire menu from 20th to 27th March, accessible via a special code.

The restaurant’s menu centres around sun-dried noodles, produced using a traditional hand-folding technique to achieve a firm, springy texture. Their approach to nutrition includes oven-baked rather than fried proteins, using extra-virgin olive oil instead of seed oils, and careful moderation of salt, sugar and fat. The aim, according to the founders, is to deliver “comfort without compromise”.

The two deliver a menu that offers a broad variety of options, with prices ranging from £6.95 to £11.85. Dishes include noodle bowls such as Peanut & Sesame Chicken, Chicken with Ginger & Sesame, 12-hour Beef with Szechuan Pepper, Portobello Mushroom with Romano Pepper and Traditional Beef Noodle Soup. The menu also features bao buns, with fillings like Oven-Baked Chicken, Ginger and Sesame Chicken and Soft-Shell Crab – designed to be eaten like burgers. Among the sides are Mixed Greens, Cucumber Salad and Wood-Ear Mushroom Salad, and for dessert there’s Mango Shaved Ice Cream, Pineapple Pie and more, drawing inspiration from Taiwanese night markets.

Bar-Chang explained: “Opening in Canary Wharf feels like an exciting next step for us. Chris and I set out to create food that is high-quality, nutrient-dense, joyful and full of character – dishes we’d happily serve to our own families – and we’re proud to see this vision resonating with Londoners. We can’t wait to welcome a new community through the doors in March.” Hsu added, “We’ve seen how much Londoners have embraced our sun-dried noodles, and bringing the restaurant to Canary Wharf gives even more people the chance to experience them fresh from the kitchen”.

The new Jubilee Place restaurant will reflect Kung Fu Mama’s design-led aesthetic, featuring a custom font by Scott Wittman and a mural illustrating Hsu’s Taiwanese culinary heritage. The restaurant will operate Monday to Friday from 11am to 9pm, Saturdays from 11am to 7pm, and Sundays and bank holidays from 12pm to 6pm.

Kung Fu Mama’s chicken dishes use halal-certified raw ingredients, though the kitchens are not exclusively halal. The opening marks another step in the collaboration between Bar-Chang and Hsu, who seek to adapt Taiwanese street food for the London market.
