A new all-day dining restaurant is set to open next month at The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton, bringing contemporary British cuisine to the capital’s historic financial district. Rycrofte’s Restaurant, Coffeehouse and Bar will open in 2026 at the newly launched hotel on Great Tower Street, situated beside the ruins of St Dunstan-in-the-East church in the City of London.

The restaurant takes its name from Sir John Rycrofte, who served as sergeant of the larder to both Henry VII and Henry VIII, a historical figure whose role overseeing royal provisions provides the conceptual foundation for the venue’s culinary approach. The menu draws on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and aims to reinterpret classic British dishes with a contemporary sensibility.

Dishes on offer include Spicy Buttermilk Chicken, Beetroot Cured Salmon, Ale-battered Fish and Chips, Slow-braised Short Rib and Seasonal Vegetable Pie. The dessert menu features Honey Apple Tart, Chocolate Brownie, Eton Mess and a selection of British cheeses.

The bar area, designed with a horseshoe shape and stained-glass window that references the architecture of the adjacent church, will host The Golden Hour at 5.10pm each evening in reference to the hotel’s address at 5-10 Great Tower Street, with the bar presenting a cocktail of the day at that hour.

Rycrofte’s has also announced a partnership with Newby Teas to offer The Guild Tea Ritual, an afternoon tea service presented on a bespoke stained-glass-inspired stand with views overlooking the St Dunstan-in-the-East church garden. Dedicated tea sommeliers are on hand to guide guests through the tea selection.

The opening of Rycrofte’s adds to a growing number of dining options in the Square Mile, an area that has seen increased investment in hospitality in recent years as the neighbourhood looks to attract visitors and workers beyond traditional business hours.

General manager William Hunter said: “Rycrofte’s embodies the spirit of The Derby London City, where guests can discover modern British dining in one of the city’s most historic settings. With our connection to St Dunstan-in-the-East and the rich stories woven through the hotel, Rycrofte’s is more than a restaurant; it’s an experience rooted in the character of this remarkable neighbourhood. We’re thrilled to open our doors and share it with our guests.”
