Avi bistro to open at Belgravia’s Lowndes Hotel with American-French menu and caviar-topped classics
A new restaurant blending American and French culinary influences is set to open at The Lowndes Hotel this May. Called Avi, the bistro will offer a menu that pairs nostalgic dishes with premium ingredients such as caviar, truffle and lobster.
Leading the kitchen is chef Joshua Conte, whose previous experience spans some of the UK’s most well-regarded establishments, including The Dorchester, Chiltern Firehouse and Heston Blumenthal’s The Crown at Bray, as well as The Boathouse in Henley. His culinary background is rooted in classic French technique, with additional influences drawn from Tuscan and Mediterranean cooking – an approach that is reflected throughout Avi’s menu.
The food offering is structured across several sections, including small plates, flatbreads, burgers, house-made pasta, fish and grilled meats. Among the more distinctive dishes are New York Fried Chicken & Caviar and Caviar Fish and Chips for small plates, while the burger and sandwich selection includes an LA Brioche Noire Lobster Roll, an Entrecôte Baguette & Fries and a signature Le Big Mac avec Truffle. Pasta options include Spicy Tomato Tequila Paccheri and Red Claw Lobster Linguine.
Also on the menu is a fish section that features Carabineros with spicy butter, Mozambique Squid with peri-peri sauce and Sea Bass Tom Yum. Last but not least, there’s a grill menu that offers Côte de Boeuf, Fillet Steak with Smoked Bone Marrow, Australian Wagyu and a Truffle Chicken Supreme.
In addition to lunch and dinner, Avi will serve a premium breakfast menu, with options ranging from artisanal sourdough egg dishes and signature muffins with hollandaise to lobster, trout gravadlax and Oscietra caviar. Further indulgent highlights to start the day include brioche French toast, shakshuka-style baked eggs, crab brioche and potato rösti with smoked chutoro.
The cocktail list follows a similar philosophy of elevated classics. The Tsar (Belvedere vodka topped with caviar, pickled onions and an olive) is positioned as the standout offering, alongside Le Jardin Secret (made with Hendricks gin, St Germain Elderflower and kiwi) and the Tropical Flamme (combining Tequila Reposado and mango).
The dining room itself seats 45 and is designed in the style of a French bistrot, featuring rustic wicker chairs, white tablecloths, low lighting and a colour palette of deep reds, creams and navy blue. A corner bar with dark wooden panelling provides a separate space for drinks.
Avi is brought to Belgravia by the team behind Prince Arthur, the popular local pub that underwent significant refurbishment in 2025 and has since built a reputation for its Basque restaurant concept. This new bistro will be open to both hotel guests and the general public seven days a week from 7am till midnight.
