Wahaca unveils Harry Styles-inspired Watermelon Sugar Margarita for Meltdown 2026 at Southbank

This June, Mexican-inspired restaurant chain Wahaca’s Southbank branch will be serving a limited-edition Watermelon Sugar Margarita, in honour of Harry Styles. The special cocktail, which takes its name and inspiration from his 2019 hit single, coincides with Meltdown at the neighbouring Southbank Centre, which is curated this year by the singer-songwriter.

Available exclusively at the riverside location for the duration of the festival, the frozen drink combines watermelon with Wahaca’s standard frozen margarita recipe (which uses Gran Centenario tequila) and is finished with a wedge of fresh watermelon. It is served in a cup wrapped in a watermelon-themed decorative sleeve, and priced at £10.95.

The Meltdown festival, one of the UK’s longest-running music and arts events, invites a different artist to curate the programme each year. Previous names at the helm have included David Bowie, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono and Grace Jones. Styles’s edition will feature a line-up of music, performance and visual arts events across the Southbank Centre’s venues.

Wahaca was founded in 2007 by MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby, and operates across London and the wider UK. The Southbank location, which sits along the Thames between the Royal Festival Hall and the National Theatre, is one of the chain’s busiest branches, particularly during the summer when the South Bank attracts scores of tourists and culture vultures.

Commenting on the launch, Wahaca’s CEO Gemma Glasson said: “Nothing says summer quite like watermelon and frozen margaritas, so bringing the two together for Meltdown felt like a match made in heaven. We wanted this very special cocktail to capture the energy and buzz of the South Bank at this time of year – it’s sweet, refreshing and guaranteed to put guests in a festival mood.”
