Menorc4manos festival to return for fifth year, uniting top Spanish chefs with Menorcan talent
The gastronomic festival Menorc4manos, organised by Ernesto Ventós through his company EV Gastro, will return to the Spanish island of Menorca this summer for its fifth edition, bringing together three visiting chefs and local professionals across a series of collaborative events to showcase the country’s cuisine.
The festival takes its name from the Spanish for “four hands” – a reference to the culinary collaboration as visiting and resident chefs share cooking duties. This year’s programme will feature three chefs recognised within the Spanish food scene: Juanjo López, Nieves Barragán Mohacho and Iñigo Lavado. Each will cook alongside established professionals based on the island, with the partnerships forming the centrepiece of three separate gastronomic events.
They will be hosted across three restaurants that have been selected to represent different aspects of Menorcan gastronomy, ranging from seafood and traditional island dishes to contemporary Mediterranean cooking and wine production. The first is La Terraza del Balear in Santo Tomás, a new venture from Cafè Balear located inside the Hotel Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá. The venue draws on one of the island’s established culinary traditions, focusing on seafood and Menorcan cuisine, served alongside views of the coastline.
The second restaurant is Sa Punta in Es Castell at Cales Fonts, which has become one of the island’s recognised gastronomic destinations – also with panoramic views, this time over the entrance to Mahón harbour. It serves contemporary cuisine born from Mediterranean traditions and local produce. Finally, the last stop is Bodegas Binifadet’s restaurant in Sant Lluís, surrounded by vineyards where food, landscape and wine are brought together.
López, Barragán Mohacho and Lavado each bring distinct backgrounds, reflecting the event’s aim to promote the diversity of Spanish cooking to audiences at home and abroad. The format also draws attention to the culinary traditions and professionals of Menorca itself, with regional produce and techniques featuring in the menus prepared for each dinner.
Now in its fifth year, Menorc4manos has established itself as a recurring fixture in the country’s summer calendar. The choice of setting places the festival within the wider context of the Balearic Islands, a region of Spain increasingly associated with gastronomic tourism.
Further details of the three events, including the chef pairings, will be announced in the coming weeks.
