London’s new wellness community has arrived, and people are already asking for the next event

London’s new wellness community has arrived, and people are already asking for the next event

An afternoon of movement, mindfulness and meaningful conversation brought together people at Erdem Hospital’s first UK wellness gathering, proving that sometimes the most important part of healing happens after you leave the hospital.

There is something refreshing about walking into a room full of strangers and leaving feeling like you’ve known them for years.

That was the atmosphere at Erdem Hospital‘s first wellness event in London on 27 June, where 25 people gathered at The Studio Space for an afternoon designed not around workouts or lectures, but around slowing down, taking a breath and reconnecting with themselves.

The gathering was a little bit of a wellness session combined with a community event with a reminder that good health isn’t only about medical appointments. Sometimes it’s about having people around you who understand your journey.

Throughout the afternoon, the wellness coach guided participants through gentle stretching, guided relaxation and light-hearted dance sessions that encouraged everyone to simply enjoy moving again. There was no pressure to perform, no intimidating fitness goals and no expectation to be anything other than yourself.

The result was exactly what organisers from Erdem Hospital had hoped for: a relaxed atmosphere where conversations flowed naturally and strangers quickly found common ground.

More than a wellness class

While Erdem Hospital is known internationally for treating patients across a wide range of medical specialties, the London event focused on something equally important: what happens after treatment.

For many people recovering from surgery, managing their weight or making major lifestyle changes, the emotional journey can be just as significant as the physical one.

Rather than offering another medical seminar, the afternoon created space for people to share experiences, ask questions and realise they weren’t facing their journeys alone.

Several attendees had already heard of Erdem Hospital before arriving, while others were simply curious about the event. Lifestyle influencers also attended and later expressed interest in working with the hospital on future wellness initiatives. Meanwhile, a number of  participants said they wanted to learn more about gastric sleeve surgery after speaking with the team.

It was exactly the kind of open, supportive conversation the organisers had hoped to inspire.

At the end of the afternoon, every participant received a flower. For many guests, the gesture perfectly captured the spirit of the event. Later that evening, the communication groups created for attendees quickly filled with messages expressing thanks. The group quickly became a hub for the participants’ outlet for updates, showing that a simple gift had become a lasting reminder of an afternoon people genuinely didn’t want to end.

This was only the beginning

Perhaps the biggest sign of success wasn’t what happened during the event. It was what happened afterwards.

Almost immediately, participants began asking when the next gathering would take place.

That enthusiasm has encouraged Erdem Hospital to continue building its wellness community in London, with plans already underway for future events that will bring even more opportunities to connect, move, learn and support one another.

The exact details are still under wraps for the next event, but if the first one is anything to go by, the next one promises to be even bigger, bringing together more people who believe that wellbeing is about community as much as it is about healthcare.

For anyone who missed the first gathering, don’t worry. This story is only just getting started.
