London Collections: Men – Richard Nicoll S/S 2015 show

London-based designer Richard Nicoll showcased his trademark clean and minimal aesthetic in the new collection for spring/summer 2015.

The brand’s well-known staple pieces have been re-created in lightweight fabrics, and updated with a number of playful prints, such as black and white gingham, mustard florals and innovative tie-dye, creating wearable looks.

A strong British summer feel is present throughout: models are winter-ready on top with knitwear, sporty bomber jackets and elongated colour-block blazers, contrasted against Bermuda shorts, cargo pants and relaxed chinos. Items have been produced in a largely grey and pastel palette, featuring flashes of poppy red and navy blue. Unlike any other, Nicoll’s collection adds a new dimension with muted metallic silver accents and quirky detailing.

The collection is all about turning the idea of uniformity on its head. “I was thinking about the idea of urban uniforms and celebrating the individual within a gang or group that would wear similar classics,” Nicoll said. ‘The collection is about reworking the familiar.”
