After a few weeks of closure for renovations, there was an air of excitement at Busaba Eathai in Kingston, Busaba-Eathai-Kingston-Upcoming-Matthew-Pull-05-Interiorand it was not only due to the beautiful weather and the Thames backdrop. The reopening had caused quite the stir, not only in the press but also among loyal customers lucky enough to be invited to its relaunch, and the fortunate few whose social media posts guaranteed them entry. With cocktails and canapés at the ready, Busaba Eathai was set to give an amazing experience.

To begin, a special selection of cocktails was on offer to celebrate the occasion and let its guests experience the best of Thai flavours in alcoholic form. For the evening, we had a selection of four to choose from: Khing Pineapple Sour, Riverside Spritz, Smokey Grass Negroni and a Typhoon Cobbler. After sampling these amazing cocktails, it was easy to see why Busaba Eathai was popular for its drinks as well as its impressive Thai cuisine. The highlight was the Khing Pineapple Sour: a delicious mix of spiced pineapple cordial with ginger, lemon juice and Angostura bitters, garnished with coriander. It was refreshing and perfect to enjoy on a sunny day by the riverside.

Next was a choice of 11 canapés, all chosen for their vibrant nature and to best showcase Busaba Eathai’s culinary prowess. The wide range catered for every palette, from crispy sea bass in a tamarind sauce, tangy grilled aubergine salad, sweet potato fries and Pad Thai Jay to Thai Calamari and so many more. It could only be described as a party for the senses, conjuring a gorgeous beach in Thailand with authentic cuisine. The Railway Fried Rice, the aubergine salad, the calamari and the pad Thai were definite talking points, with each dish making a lasting impression on many of the attendees.

To follow the savoury canapés, Busaba introduced a flavoursome pandan pancake, infused with pandan plant aroma and coconut milk and topped with palm sugar caramel, accompanied by a yam polamai fruit salad. Despite perhaps being a simple dessert, it was an absolute delight. To add further excitement, an ice cream cart provided by Isleworth’s South Street Ice Cream gave guests a real treat with amazing fruity and spicy concoctions. They also ran a four-stage chilli challenge for those who considered themselves brave enough.

Busaba Eathai admirably showcased their expertise; not only did they provide outstanding food, but also a great environment in which to enjoy it. With generous weekend brunch offers and a wonderful menu, guests were sure to leave wanting to relive the experience many times over.
