We don’t have a crystal ball that enables us to see into the future of interior design for 2016, so a definitive rundown of what’s going to be hot and what’s losing its cool is a bit tricky. Future colours

Every year, the design world gets excited as Pantone announces its annual superstar colour. The company hasn’t spilled the details yet for this year, but 2015’s shade was an earthy, pink-rinsed knockout called Marsala. A statement sofa in a strong shade against a boldly contrasting paint or wallpaper will be a key look. For a dose of intense colour therapy, you will be seeing a lot of vivid pink textiles from Guatemala, pretty patchwork and luxuriant fringing.
