Unusual vintage at Couverture & The Garbstore
Since its opening in 2008, Couverture & The Garbstore has been at the heart of Notting Hill; it’s a shop packed full of vintage goods that are spread across three floors. The ethos behind the shop is strictly independent, only buying from independent companies and standing up against the big corporations, focusing on quality and personality rather than mass production.
The Couverture part of the shop holds a mix of fashion labels. Situated on the ground and first floors are womenswear and accessories, children’s and babywear, toys, jewellery, home accessories, and furniture and covetable vintage finds. The collections and goods are collected from around the world resulting in relaxed and simple clothing that is made well with a focus on the individual product and its owner. 
The lower ground floor is home to Ian Paley’s menswear brand, Garbstore, which is a selection of progressive menswear and unusual vintage items and accessories. The Garbstore takes inspiration from fashions produced after the Second World War; items which are oddities, but are stylish and work alongside modern clothing. 
Couverture & The Garbstore is a really interesting place filled with a world of curiosities that are presented in a clean and sleek style. It’s a place in which you could spend hours looking through the curious and abnormal goods that are for sale; no wonder it is a place for both fashion and interior stylists alike to find their newest buys, as well as a treasure trove for a whole host of other interesting people.
