François Ozon’s latest work Frantz premiered tonight at the BFI Embankment Garden Cinema. It’s a film that tells the story of a German woman who loses her husband and falls in love with a French man in the years after the end of the Great War and the journey she goes on to make the relationship work.

We spoke to Ozon about his drastic choice to film in black and white, whether there is a common theme throughout his films (apart from choosing beautiful young women to star), and about the current French film scene and the impact Brexit may have in the industry.
