What to expect from Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D
There are some movies that withstand the test of time and become classics. Even after the world has undergone drastic changes and the public’s taste in cinemas has altered, some movies are always popular – they are evergreen. Jurassic Park, Titanic and ET the Extra-Terrestrial are just some of the films that are watched again and again.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Terminator series is another one. The first movie was released back in 1984, and since then the franchise has become bigger and bigger. There have been no fewer than five movies in the series and a television series: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The movies have grossed an estimated $1.8 billion worldwide.
The Terminator franchise is going to get bigger and a get a very modern feel later this year when Terminator 2: Judgment Day is released in 3D. The movie will hit the UK cinemas on 25th August, and it promises to be a hit among the film buffs. The series’ last instalment, Terminator Genisys, was poorly received, so perhaps the 3D version of Terminator 2 is going to get fans back on side.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day is arguably the best movie in the series. First released in 1991, the movie is a sequel to the first film and was a massive hit, both among the fans and the critics. BBC gave it five stars, outlining how the movie was enhanced by the introduction of dangerous threats for the heroes “while retaining the all-important physical essence of the fear of the chase that made the first film so exciting”. The Guardian included Terminator 2: Judgment Day in its 25 best sci-fi and fantasy films of all time in October 2010; it was 12th in the list ahead of The Matrix, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Back to the Future and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Terminator 2 is about Sarah Connor being chased by a terminator sent back in time to kill her and her son, John, who has sent back a reprogrammed friendly terminator from the future to stop those murders from taking place.
The success of Terminator 2 has also resulted in a number of video games based on the movie. T2: The Arcade Game is one of the more popular ones. The story is the same as the movie, with the player taking on the role of the friendly terminator trying to save young John and his mother. The franchise’s endearing popularity has resulted in many online games. There are as many as 243 ways to win this five-reel game, which has many of the characters from the movie and some extra action and animations.
The release of Terminator 2 in 3D later this year is only going to make such video games gain in popularity. The movie is likely to be a hit even though everyone knows the storyline. Despite recent reports of bosses pulling out of production plans to make another Terminator movie, if Judgment Day in 3D is a success, then maybe, just maybe, they could change their mind.
