Borg vs McEnroe: Stellan Skarsgård, Sverrir Gudnason and Janus Metz interview on reenacting the legendary rivalry

Borg vs McEnroe focuses on the famous rivalry between two of the greatest tennis players and personalities the sport has ever seen, Bjorn Borg, played by Sverrir Gudnason, and John McEnroe, played by Shia LaBeouf. The film follows them as they compete in the 1980 Wimbledon Championships.

We talked with Stellan Skarsgård, who plays Borg’s coach Lennart Bergelin, about creating his character’s relationship with Sverrir Gudnason’s Bjorn Borg, and his memory of the real drama of the 1980 tournament.

We asked Sverrir Gudnason and Janus Metz about what drew them to making Borg vs McEnroe and what the film is really about, and the process of making the tennis matches look authentic.

Borg vs McEnroe is released nationwide on 22nd September 2017. Read our review here.
