Park Hotel at Moth Club for NME Awards Shows 2018

Park Hotel at Moth Club for NME Awards Shows 2018 | Live review

Park Hotel‘s performance at the Moth Club certainly put the fun in funk. Their danceable, upbeat playlist – part of the NME Awards shows 2018 – was a moreish cocktail of groovy disco riffs, pacey rhythms and punk swagger.

Despite only unveiling their debut single Gone as a Friend in early 2017, band frontrunners Tim Abbey and Rebeca Marcos-Rosa exude the confidence and energy of long-timers. Bopping along to their own alternative beat, the London-based musicians played their new release Going West with undeniable style. Step aside Arcade Fire, and say hello to the coolest vocal duo in town.

Admittedly, the chilled and repetitive modern electronica might not be to everyone’s taste, but even the most averse would find it hard to resist moving their hips to the catchy synth, guitar and bass melodies. The six-piece connect well with the crowd – Marcos-Rosa’s soulful Winehouse-esque sound filling the intimate venue and perfectly complimenting her co-singer’s airy refrains.

Though they are relatively new kids on the block, the group – and their refreshing hip-retro blend – would appear to have a shining path ahead. One thing’s for sure: we should all be booking a room at the Park Hotel.
