My Little Sister: An interview with Nina Hoss, Marthe Keller and the directors

My Little Sister (Schwesterlein) is the new film from the pairing of Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond. It is about a sibling relationship rekindled through anticipated grief. Sven and Lisa are twins who must negotiate the travails of Sven’s leukaemia diagnosis. He is played by Lars Eidinger.

We spoke with writer-directors Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond about their working relationship and how their life experiences informed the making of the film. They talked about their own connection to the theatre scene in Berlin.

We spoke with Nina Hoss about the development of her character Lisa, and the responsibility of caring for loved ones in times of crisis.

Marthe Keller talked to us about her supporting role as Lisa’s mother, the comic counterpoint to the general themes of grave plight and seriousness. She spoke about how music is used to elevate the film.
