Ledley King forced to retire from football

Tottenham defender Ledley King has announced his retirement from football, after a string of knee injuries halted a promising career.

The 31-year-old has struggled for a number of years with reoccuring injuries and was unable to train daily, in a statement released on the Tottenham website, King said: “Sadly my injuries and inability to train have finally brought an end to my career.

“I’m pleased that I can continue to work within the club.”

King joined Spurs aged just 16 and went on to make 333 appearances, scoring 13 goals. King will remain at Tottenham, working in an ambassadorial role.
