Golden day for Team GB

Golden day for Team GB

Great Britain enjoyed a golden day, scooping six medals to shoot up the table. Team GB won three gold medals and three silver medals to cap a glorious few days for Team GB.

After watching Bradley Wiggins win gold in the time trial event, it was the turn of the track cyclists to take to the beautifully designed Velodrome and they didn’t disappoint.

The men’s sprint cycling team twice broke the world record on their way to victory – a result meaning Sir Chris Hoy equals Sir Steven Redgrave’s five gold medal haul.

The gold had followed on from the two that GB had won earlier in the men’s canoe slalom and men’s double trap shooting.

The men’s lightweight four rowing team won silver at Eton Dorney, meaning Great Britain sit fifth in the medal table with 15.

And the golds could keep on coming with GB having four hot prospects in action, with rowers Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins in the women’s double sculls, the men’s team pursuit and the women’s keirin in cycling and swimmer Rebecca Adlington aiming to retain her 800m title.
