“People love British gangster films – but it’s a dying trend”: Craig Fairbrass on Rise of the Footsoldier – Vengeance

The sixth film in the British crime thriller franchise, Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance is a return to form for actor Craig Fairbrass, as he brings the gangster hard man Pat Tate back to life with the sole purpose of revenge. This action movie dabbles in a criminal underbelly that seduces viewers with its brilliant cinematography, slick scenes of graphic violence and a fantastic ensemble cast.

The story ventures into the hazy neon streets of Soho in the 90s, as Tate plans to avenge the death of his trusted footsoldier in a world of kingpin drug lords and unsavoury gangs. Directed by Nick Never, from a screenplay by Andrew Loveday and Jason Maza, this latest offering fuses action scenes with a luminous soundtrack, as the protagonist prepares to take down those who crossed him and in turn give viewers a darker look into the expanding narrative.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to actor Fairbass about his lead role as Patrick Tate, where the story takes viewers this time and what they can expect. He also discussed roles in other projects, what draws him into a script and what it was like working on this new instalment with brilliant colleagues.
