“We don’t know our neighbours like we used to”: Jed Hart and Lyndsey Marshall on Restless

Restless is a tightly wound psychological thriller that masterfully straddles the line between dark comedy and stark realism. Jed Hart’s movie follows Nicky (Lyndsey Marshal), a burnt-out nurse navigating the suffocating loneliness of grief after her parents’ deaths. But that solitude is short-lived, shattered by Deano (Aston McAuley), the brash new occupant of her parents’ former home, whose relentless intrusion transforms everyday annoyance into something far more insidious. With its stark cinematography and a searing performance from Marshal, Restless plays with the quiet horror of powerlessness, laying bare the grim absurdity of a system that turns a blind eye when help is needed most.
