New low-calorie lager Fit Cat set to debut in premium London venues this April

A new low-calorie lager, Fit Cat, will launch on the 1st of April in a select number of premium venues across London. The beer is the creation of Arian Zandi, co-founder of Emerald Hospitality Group, and will be brewed in Surrey. The product aims to offer a lower-calorie alternative to traditional lagers, containing approximately 90 calories per 330ml bottle, and is intended to appeal to consumers seeking a more balanced lifestyle without forgoing the taste and experience of a full-flavoured lager.

Fit Cat has already undergone a soft launch within Emerald Hospitality venues, with plans for a wider rollout under discussion. The lager is produced using an adjusted brewing process that balances malt, enzymes, and fermentation, rather than relying on dilution or artificial methods to reduce calorie content. This approach is designed to retain the beer’s body and character.

Arian Zandi, who is committed to a healthy lifestyle, developed Fit Cat to meet what he sees as a gap in the market for a lager that offers both moderate alcohol content and fewer calories. “Fit Cat has been developed to offer consumers a middle ground when choosing lager, delivering full flavour with fewer calories and moderate alcohol,” Zandi said.

The beer is brewed locally in Surrey and is presented in an opaque bottle featuring a light pink label and minimalist branding. Sustainability and provenance are key considerations in the production process.

Initial distribution will be limited to a curated selection of upmarket London venues, with the aim of maintaining quality and brand integrity. Further expansion is anticipated, with discussions ongoing with other hospitality operators in London and across the UK.

Fit Cat’s launch reflects a broader trend in the beverage industry towards lower-calorie and wellness-oriented alcoholic drinks, as consumers increasingly seek products that align with their health and lifestyle priorities.
