The Coral Room unveils Devil Wears Prada-inspired cocktail menu in Bloomsbury
The Coral Room, located on Great Russell Street in London’s Bloomsbury, has launched a new menu of cocktails and bar snacks inspired by The Devil Wears Prada, timed to coincide with the film’s return to cinemas and the ongoing run of the stage musical at the neighbouring Dominion Theatre. The menu is aimed at theatre-goers, cinema audiences and casual diners in the area.
The launch follows the bar’s earlier themed afternoon tea, which was introduced when the musical adaptation opened next door. The new offering is intended for shorter visits, such as pre-theatre drinks, post-show gatherings or stops before or after a film screening at the nearby Odeon cinema.
The cocktail list references several moments from the 2006 film. The Runway Royale is made with Mijenta Tequila Reposado, Galliano, vanilla liqueur, Nonino Botanical, Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve and a maraschino cherry. Cerulean, named after the monologue delivered by the character Miranda Priestly about the colour, combines Silent Pool Gin, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, butterfly pea tea and Mancino Vermouth Bianco. A third drink, the Miranda Club, is described as a sharper option and is mixed with X Muse Vodka, hedgerow berry and rose shrub, Cocchi Extra, dry vermouth, fresh raspberries and lemon juice.
The accompanying food menu features sharing plates designed as light bites. The Run Away Red Carpet consists of roasted red pepper hummus served with radish and crackers. A grilled cheese sandwich made with Jarlsberg has been included as a reference to a scene featuring the character Nate. The That’s All Steak Skewers are made with grilled wagyu beef and served with a chimichurri dip.
The Coral Room sits within the Bloomsbury Hotel and is positioned a short walk from the Dominion Theatre, where The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical is currently being staged. The 2006 film, directed by David Frankel and starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, returned to cinemas this year, and a sequel is in production.
