The Little Neon Door opens in Shoreditch with themed rooms, DJ sets and artist-designed entrance
Little Door & Co has opened a new venue, The Little Neon Door, marking the group’s sixth permanent site and its largest to date. Located on Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch, the two-floor space continues the company’s tradition of designing bars to resemble a fictional flatshare, with rooms including a kitchen, living room, games room and bathroom, alongside DJ sets, karaoke, cocktails, games and fancy dress.
Little Door & Co was founded in 2014 by Kamran and Jamie, beginning with a pop-up version of the Little Yellow Door in Notting Hill. The Little Neon Door follows the group’s existing sites in Notting Hill, Fulham, Clapham, Soho and Carnaby, with each location designed to reflect the character of its surrounding neighbourhood. The new venue’s interiors draw on Shoreditch’s loft-living and industrial heritage, featuring raw finishes, an overhead mezzanine, playful prints and neon lighting. The company says it’s intended to work as a relaxed daytime bar and a more energetic place to party by night, when DJs perform from Wednesday to Saturday.
It is split across two levels with five themed rooms. The ground floor includes a Sitting Room with sofas, and a Living Room and Kitchen where DJs play from the kitchen island. The Laundry Room and Bathroom house a karaoke machine and a bathtub used as a photo feature. Upstairs, the mezzanine area has a Games Room with a large-screen Nintendo 64, table football and a table tennis table that converts into a second DJ station, accompanied by a 1990s house and disco soundtrack. A Dressing Room offers seating, a fancy-dress cupboard and a second karaoke machine.
For the front door, Little Door & Co has for the first time commissioned an artist – Supermundane (also known as Rob Lowe) – to produce an original work. Lowe has worked in Shoreditch’s creative scene for around three decades, including producing flyers for the 333 Club, designing the magazines SleazeNation and Anorak, painting the rooftop wall at the Jealous gallery and creating work for the Broadgate amphitheatre.
The food menu includes bar snacks, pizzas and weekend brunches, while cocktails are themed around a film collection and served in quirky resceptacles such as vases, disco balls and trophies. And to mark the opening, early bookers can receive 50% off their bill from Monday 6th July to Sunday 19th July, for groups of up to nine people.
