Shake Shack to open 22nd UK restaurant beside Paddington station this winter
Shake Shack will open a restaurant beside London Paddington station this winter. The new site at 144 Praed Street, London W2 1HU, will be its 22nd in the UK and is aimed at commuters, day-trippers and local residents using one of the capital’s busiest transport hubs. An exact opening date has not yet been confirmed.
The restaurant sits just outside the station’s main entrance and faces the street, so it can be reached without entering the station.
The menu will feature the brand’s standard dishes, including the ShackBurger, Crinkle-cut Fries, Flat-Top Dogs and hand-spun milkshakes. The burgers are made to order with Aberdeen Angus beef and served in potato buns made with regeneratively farmed flour from supplier Wildfarmed. Its wider menu also includes crispy chicken and house-made lemonades. Prices for the Paddington site have not been published.
Richard Franks, business director at Shake Shack UK, said: “We’re absolutely pumped to be opening our 22nd location in the UK at another major transport hub. For commuters and locals in the Paddington area, great food, comfort and efficiency fit hand in hand and Shake Shack feels like a perfect fit.”
The Paddington opening continues the chain’s move into sites at major stations and transport interchanges. Since the original Shack opened in 2004 in NYC’s Madison Square Park, the Company has expanded to over 730 locations system-wide, including over 455 in 35 U.S. States and the District of Columbia, and over 250 international locations across London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo, Seoul and more.
Ahead of the launch, hoarding designed by the illustrator Soft Shock has been put up around the Praed Street site, giving passers-by an early indication of the restaurant’s look before it opens.
