Yet another contestant of a prime-time talent show gets out there to prove he deserves a place on the, already crowded, music scene.

London-based singer songwriter Max Milner, launched into the public-eye by The Voice, has commenced the battle with Army Of Me – a live tour his dedicated UK fans had been pleading for.

At the O2 Academy Islington a nervous Max got on stage and one question kept popping into my head: can he live up to this audience’s expectations?

After tuning his guitar, which may not be the luckiest start, Max went on to perform much of his widely anticipated, yet to be released, debut album. His small raspy voice was flawless throughout, sounding sultry on Meant to Be and more powerful on Jammin’ on the Rooftops, which made the infatuated crowd go crazy and brought him some loud applause.

In the breaks between songs, the concert turned into a slapstick comedy between Max and electrical wires, which was handled with grace and humour and, curiously enough, added to his charm.

Max wrapped up the concert with his mash-up of The Beatles’ Come Together and Eminem’s Lose Yourself, recreating the moment when the British public fell in love with him and the door to fame opened.

A door that will not swing shut, due to the accompanying musician, Robbie White (drums, guitar, cello, and vocals), whose exceptional talent and stage presence made it a two-man show.

Milner’s concert may not have flowed effortlessly, but it was worth being a part of as it is always pleasing to observe a young promising artist in the making.
