Ferrer showed lack of resistance and variety to stay with Nadal throughout the match, as Nadal breezed through the first set and his 8-game straight streak was over when Ferrer finally managed to get himself on the board after 44 minutes.

Ferrer, who’s won the Mexican Open on three occasions himself, was gracious at defeat admitting “Rafa was just better than me today”.

Eleven times Grand Slam Champion, Nadal confirmed that he will be taking part at the Indian Well’s starting next week, “my heart tells me I should continue competing, that I need to move on to the next tournament” said Nadal after his win.
