Not for the faint-hearted: Charles of London

Not for the faint-hearted: Charles of London

Feeling a little rebellious towards fashion in the New Year? Well, Charles of London might be just the thing to excite your wardrobe.  The self proclaimed brand for ‘freaks, guys and dolls, radiowavers, twisters, punks and slags’ is risqué and outrageous, and if you dare sport some of Charles’ clothes, you will definitely stand out from the crowd.

They declare their mission to be ‘World Domination’ and their ethos is ‘to rip up the rule book and start all over again’ and while it’s questionable how far their leather, zips and bondage-esque clothing will go in doing the former, it is clear that they are well on their way to achieving the latter.

The punk clothing can be bought online by clicking here, but make sure you have your volume turned up for the chorus of voices shouting words such as “slags, retards, grease monkeys and gutter snakes” greeting you upon arrival.

The garments themselves are by no means for the faint of heart.  They truly capture the essence of punk and pieces range from a dress consisting of a ruched  ‘cocaine theme’ skirt attached to a ripped T-shirt with safety pins to a barely-there string vest.

However, with an open mind it is possible to see past the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll to a fundamentally original and playful collection of clothes.  As well as a range of wonderfully dark tees, Charles of London use their exclusive collage print fabric to make quirky and flamboyant dresses and jackets.

With their use of interesting erotic fabrics and silhouettes, Charles of London is the perfect place to find a one off statement piece that you can guarantee no one else will be wearing.
