Bright light: Kokon to Zai
The sub-zero temperatures of late have enveloped the whole of UK in a streak of grey. Grey landscape, grey streets, grey skies and grey jackets. If this dullness is also turning your mood a little bleak, it is definitely time to inject some colour and brightness back to wardrobe and life. With London gearing up for the much anticipated fashion week, there couldn’t be a better time to introduce to you, fashion junkies, wacky and vibrant design team KTZ and their online boutique Kokon to Zai.
KTZ is a collaboration between design students Koji Marayumma and Marjan Pejoski and architecture student Sasko Bezovski all coming out of the Mecca of fashion designing Central Saint Martins. The trio joined their business and creative minds to give birth to retail network of cult stores Kokon to Zai, with outlets in London and Paris. The retail chain combines fashion and music effortlessly, to create a truly unique style. Their design mantra is strikingly graphic and youthful.
The designs are graphic not just in terms of print but in shapes as well. The trio feels fashion and style should be a journey; it should be a movement of wearer’s ideas and feelings. What you get is a rebellious, forward and young look. What’s more? KTZ’s spring/summer 2012 look is vividly inspired from Africa. The colourful and bold pieces, influenced by the tribal life, bring alive the brilliant colours of Africa and the passion for people.
I don’t know about you but I am all set to throw out the boring grey to embrace my colourful, wild side.
