First born in 2004, Biko is a modern jewellery brand with a nostalgic twist, specialising in handcrafted pieces, made with love by Toronto based designer Corrine Anestopoulos.

Starting from a young age, Anestopoulos spent her time designing friendship bracelets, for both her and her friends, sparking a love for creating what can only be described as beautiful treasures. Graduating in 2005, with a Bachelor of Design in Image Arts, Biko really took off, combining quirky design elements, an assorted collection of materials and a great eye for detail, Anestopoulos has managed to create something truly special.

Inspired by priceless heirlooms, foreign travel and warm sunny days, Biko draws stimulation from her past memories and translates these ideas into wearable, individual pieces. Mixing quirky vintage ideas with metals, charms and natural stones to create unique pieces that not only tell a story, but are also entirely versatile. The use of brass and copper alongside oxidised silvers and darken gold brings warmth to these pieces, contrasted with subdued shades of gunmetal giving off the air that these pieces deserved to be loved and looked after, a real quirky little treasure.

The current collection aptly named A light odyssey into tomorrow comprises tribal inspiration with bold bright colours and restrained gold, creating breathtaking yet flirtatious pieces. Made up of bold statement necklaces, delicate earrings and a modern take on friendship bracelets there is definitely something for everyone.

Currently Biko is only stocked in Canada, USA and Japan but all pieces can be bought online by clicking here. Prices start from £15.
