Sometimes a unique exquisite piece of jewellery is all you need to march ahead stylishly. Brighton-based jewellery designer Ruth Bridges is the girl who will help all fashion junkies out there to do just that. A product of University of Brighton, Ruth studied a BA (Hons) in three-dimensional crafts and graduated in 1998. Since then she has polished her skills while working with an experienced jeweller before starting off on her own. Today all her jewellery is made in her East Sussex workshop.

Bridges, who is passionate about craftsmanship, is also enthralled by the tradition of handmade pieces. She puts a lot of care and skills to bring out delicate, awe-inspiring jewellery.  Nature clearly is her biggest inspiration as her designs seem heavily inspired by rock formations. There is also good use of pebble-like gems, map symbols and even mathematical drawings.

One of her present collections is Lode, a silver range that features a stripe of contrasting 18-carat white, yellow or red gold, and the delicate detail of tiny diamonds and sapphires. There is the Flint collection, which features tactile pressed forms in silver with a line of contrasting 18ct white or yellow gold and even the occasional tiny diamond.

The Pear collection comprises pear-shaped stone-set rings and earrings featuring a choice of five different semi-precious stones.

The Pierced collection has tactile, hollow forms with delicate hand-pierced detail which makes each piece different from the others. And there is of course the bespoke diamond solitaire collection that has the ultimate wedding rings.
