Looking for Something Else? Discover Natalie Wood

Something Else, by Natalie Wood, is exactly what the title suggests; and it is oozes absolute beauty. Natalie’s presentation of creative design is breathtaking and one-of-a-kind, merging art with fashion. She has been recognised all over the globe for her work and is consistent in pushing new innovations, removing any limitations within design in the fashion industry with complete ease. Something Else.

The label has been built on being ‘inclusive rather than exclusive’ by bringing together a close network of worldwide artists to build and celebrate Something Else’s distinctive style. 2007 and 2008 saw unique presentations of Natalie’s work that demonstrated why her work is so impressive. Art installations displaying something far from the norm dazzled the media and set this matchless label in stone. Something Else. One of these installations, entitled ‘Living Dolls’, premiered at Mercedes Fashion Week and featured a life-sized doll’s house with models inside. ‘Paradise Lost’ followed this in true style, demonstrating a fashion experience inside a warehouse that had been transformed into a decaying house. Models were again featured in the display to create setting and inspire emotion amongst onlookers. Something Else.

Since then, Something Else has become a label to watch, as is evident in its Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Aptly named ‘Metamorphosis’, there is a distinct androgynous, boyfriend feel to the designs. Unique cuts in both lengths and shapes are complemented with collars, all-in-one pieces and fabulous knits. Something Else.

What makes this collection really stand out is the use of pattern. Neutral and navy pieces are all contrasted with opposing bold, clashing prints – and, in most cases, matching heeled shoes.Something Else.

These shoes make the biggest statement in this collection, some of them mirroring the appearance of the model, introducing a completely new approach to shoe design. The theory behind Natalie’s ideas is mesmerising and she has certainly found a niche that she can play with for a long time to come. Something Else.
