Krissyfied: Fashion does have feelings!
Krissy Nemeth is a talented self-taught designer who developed her fashion enterprise after inspiration from a two-year adventure in Asia, and through her adoration for the magical land of India. These places are home to such diverse cultures that it is hard not to be stimulated by the variety of colours, textures and sites. After putting all her thoughts and creations into one place, Krissy decided to start her own fashion label, Krissyfied.
With an obsession for the vintage look, Krissyfied aims to express individuality within clothing whilst bringing back the structured styles of the past. All the Spring/Summer collections offer a different, retro look through the patterns, colours and styling. From their Spring/Summer 2012 collection we love the Laurion dress and the Nwando dress because of their elegant floral patterns and the sophisticated frills.
What makes this clothing line more than just a label is the ethos behind it. Krissyfied is a member of the Ethical Fashion Forum and wants to make a stand against child labour. In the words of the website, Krissyfied aims to create “frocks with feelings”; an idea which considers the harsh conditions faced by children who are exploited and forced to work to provide for their family. It is because of this injustice that 10% of all profits from this venture go to Karm Marg, New Delhi. Karm Marg is a children’s home providing a future for homeless children and young people found abandoned in and around New Delhi Railway Station, India.
Krissyfied clothing is not sold online, however the chic collections are available in the fabulous Casino Vintage and The Laden Showroom – shops which define what vintage is! Better yet, Krissyfied has its own market stall in trendy Brick Lane every Sunday from April until September (a great excuse for a nice day out!).
