Jennifer Nicolson is the girl behind Hey Jenny Jenny. Based in Glasgow, Jennifer has officially been creating interesting and playful jewellery since 2009. Predominantly working with silver, she takes inspiration from everyday shapes and objects and gives them a Hey Jenny Jenny twist. Just check out this Plane Jane Necklace… Completely adorable!

Nicolson graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA (Hons) in Metalwork and Jewellery and her unique passion for producing quirky and ready to wear pieces has grown ever since. She launched her label in 2012 offering a collection of charming silver rings, necklaces and earrings. Looking at her collection, it cannot be denied that Jennifer has a slight love of buttons, birds and innocent simplicities, all of which are used to perfection in her designs. It is refreshing to see a jewellery maker not obsessed with statement work. As far as we can see, all of Nicolson’s pieces would compliment any outfit, and there really is something to suit everyone.

“I love the diversity of fashion and how it is forever changing.  I’m not heavily influenced by fashion but it certainly can offer inspiration and help develop individual style. I dress fairly casual and slightly twee. I live in patterned shorts, vintage dresses and thick knitted cardigans, but I tend to use accessories more than clothing to express myself.” We at The Upcoming feel that Nicolson has struck gold here. It’s so easy to revitalise an outfit with the right jewellery! “An item of jewellery can instantly complete and alter an outfit to suit my mood. It can allow you to be extravagant and bold or subtle and casual.”

Having only been launched in March of this year, Hey Jenny Jenny is still in its early stages, taking baby steps into the world of fashion. “It has been going really well and I have certainly been kept busy. I just hope to still be doing what I enjoy for many more years and much more!” We certainly think that Hey Jenny Jenny will be moving forward in leaps and bounds due to Nicolson’s sleek and original designs. Good luck to you, Jenny!
